Meghan Markle sends rare message to public following Prince Harry’s statement on divorce rumours

Following Prince Harry’s remarks regarding divorce rumors, Meghan Markle sent an uncommon statement to the public.

When NYT columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin questioned the Duke of Sussex about his relationship earlier this week at the 2024 New York Times DealBook Summit, he was compelled to confront the divorce rumors that have been circulating for weeks.

“I Google Newsed you, and there were people who were always enthralled with everything you’re doing,” Sorkin stated. They find it fascinating that you are here and Meghan is currently in California.

He remarked: “And there’s articles left and right about, you know, ‘Why are you making, doing independent events? Why aren’t you doing them together?”

With a laugh, Harry responded: “Because you invited me, you should have known!”

He also touched on the relentless speculation surrounding his family over the years, adding: “Apparently we’ve bought or moved house 10, 12 times. We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it’s just like, what?”

During the conversation, Harry also reflected on what he considers his “biggest weakness.”

He revealed: “One of my biggest weaknesses is feeling helpless.”

Harry also mentioned his mother’s 1997 death in Paris while paparazzi followed her car through the French capital, saying that his biggest worry was “worrying that would happen to me, or to my wife, or to my kids.”

He told Sorkin, “I very much enjoy living here and bringing my kids up here,” as an explanation for his decision to remain in the United States.

He went on to say that his life in America, free of royal duties, feels “like the life my mother wanted” for him.

As patron of Smart Works, a UK charity that “exists to give women the confidence they need to reach their full potential, secure employment, and change the trajectory of their lives,” the Duchess of Sussex has since hosted their first carol service in London, sending some Christmas cheer across the pond.

“Tonight promises to be a truly magical celebration, filled with special guests and performers, and most importantly, the shared spirit of community that defines Smart Works.”

The message went on to say: “Together we gather to honour the work and dedication of this remarkable organisation, which continues to empower women across the UK through coaching, dressing and instilling confidence on their journey to employment.

“Thank you for giving your support by being here in St Marylebone Parish Church, under the beautiful haze of Christmas wreaths and candlelight.”
